We've all been there, it seems - having to pass the time in a place of business with a bored child, or maybe even two or three of them. Isn't it great when the business provides a toy box in the corner, and you find some crayons in it?
Well, no, actually, it's not so great. Your children may love it, but we think that businesses who offer coloring activities for children in waiting areas are making a serious mistake, for several reasons:
1. Coloring activities are, at the least, messy - in the toy box, and, in unsupervised little hands, for the business itself. Old crayons could end up decorating the walls, the furniture and the carpet, and old coloring books get torn and shabby-looking.
2. Old crayons get broken, and broken crayons can be a choking hazard.
3. Keeping coloring activities current can be expensive for the business - kids take crayons home or they simply get lost, and coloring books get used up and need to be replaced.
