Want to Grow a Sunflower House?
Children love to have their own playhouse or clubhouse, or just somewhere they can call their own, or play 'in secret' with their friends - why not create a 'live' one this summer by growing a 'sunflower house?' All you need is a minimum 6' by 6' sunny spot in your yard or garden, and here's how….
Materials
One package of sunflower seeds
Garden tools
Dig up a patch of garden in a circle, square or rectangle, and plant the seeds about an inch deep and 8 inches apart around the outside edge of it, remembering to leave an opening for your door. Cover the seeds with dirt and give them lots of water -- you'll see the little seedlings start to pop up within a week. Keep watering them, and before you know it, those seedlings will become the 'walls' of your sunflower house - a wonderful, magical place!
Once the sunflowers are over your children's head, they can decorate their new playhouse, and invite their friends over for a picnic or a tea party! (And, at the end of the summer, make sure you save some seeds from the sunflowers so you can plant them again next year!)
