Kiddinaround.com was founded by Juliana Lapitino in 1998. She did not set out to create a business, it just evolved quite naturally when she purchased The Learning Tower for her son. She was so impressed with this product, that she decided to sell them. The Learning Tower is a unique step-stool with a platform designed for children ages two to six. The platform can be lowered as children grow to enable children at any stage to be at counter height—so that they can help Mom or Dad do dishes for example, or prepare a meal. Being a parent of an active toddler, Juliana discovered a very real and pressing need for Play Tables in public places.
"It always troubled me to find boxes of tired-looking toys—many of which had small, choke-able and broken parts—at my auto repair center, at my bank, at the optometrist, at the doctor's office, and in many places where I shopped for goods and services with my son.
How, I wondered, could businesses that spent money and time to provide strong customer service forget about the children of the customers they wished most to impress? Would they serve complimentary coffee in unwashed, chipped cups to customers who they hoped would return? Didn't they realize they were creating a liability for themselves or that there was a safe and sanitary alternative to this common, unwise practice?”
Childfriendlybusiness.com was created to educate business owners about the growing need for them to provide safe, diversionary play for children who visit their establishments.
