Information about Pediatric Waiting Rooms

A special note to all pediatric providers:

Special consideration on "well" and "sick" patient waiting areas:
Moms, dads and caregivers frequently worry that after a routine check-up their child will come home sick from waiting area germ exposure.  We strongly encourage pediatric providers to designate a "well" waiting area and a "under the weather" waiting area. The "well" waiting area can be equipped with our interactive Play Tables, Wall-mounted Play Panels, Activity Cubes and book displays, or any combination of these items. The "under the weather" waiting area should only contain a small book display with some children's titles so that an adult can read to a youngster who is not feeling well.
Simply rearranging chairs or purchasing a room dividing unit can accomplish this without the need for a major building or construction project. When separate well and not well waiting areas are designated, it puts your healthy patients and families at ease and creates a quieter, comfortable space away from more active play for those who are ill.

Help on determining your specific requirements:
Many care provider ask questions like, "How many play tables do I need?" and "What is the ideal setup for a pediatric waiting area?"
If you have a busy practice, 2-3 play tables and 1-2 wall panels will usually be sufficient to create a solid, study, built-to-last play area for your patients.  You should also consider  purchasing a book display with children's titles for older children who prefer to read while they wait, or for a mom or dad to read to a child.

If you have a small practice, one table and a wall panel, along with a children's books display, may be all that you need.
